Food and nutrition is all about balance. Calories in should equal calories out to maintain weight. Protein, carbohydrates and fats need to be taken in in sufficient quantities (along with water, vitamins and minerals) to maintain optimum health. And the focus we put on healthy eating must be balance with the rest of our lives…we must realize that food needs to be balanced with activity, creating a healthy home needs to be balanced with careers and school and extracurricular activities.

So…how did we get so out of balance in the first place? Why is it, that as we focus more and more on healthy eating, healthy weights and health in general…we seem to be gaining more and more weight and our eating habits get worse and worse? Everyone may have a different answer for this one. Hopefully with this site will provoke thought about your own habits and ideas and you can work your way to a more healthy, balanced life!
